First in Flight game mechanics tie in with the theme perfectly. The design flaw cards keep the game exciting, since you never know when they may turn up and if you get 4 or more design flaws you crash! There many ways to build your tableau with upgrade cards, experience cards, skill cards, friend cards, technology cards, glide cards, and basic flyer cards.
First in Flight has a quick 5-10 minutes setup time. The game play is fast moving with very low downtime in-between each player. The copy we are playing is a prototype and components are subject to change. However, we were very impressed with the card quality and coins.
Players race around the board trying to beat their flying distance record. The game features famous pilots with their own unique player abilities. The player with the greatest flight distance when the end game is triggered is the winner.
Overall, this is a great family friendly game that encourages laughter, competitiveness, conversation, and most importantly a lot of fun.
