Herdvana Card Game Overview

Herdvana Board GameIntroduction: What is Herdvana and What Makes it So Unique?

Herdvana is a wild and wacky card game for 2-10 players that’s sure to bring a smile to your face. Whether you’re playing with a small group of friends or a big bunch of family, this game is sure to keep everyone entertained. With fast-paced gameplay and plenty of player interaction, Herdvana is an exciting and unpredictable adventure.

In this game, players are trying to score the most points by creating herds of like animals in their playing area. With 10 different herd members to choose from, including turtles, goldfish, bees, chickens, peacocks, pigs, llamas, horses, cows, and bison. And with the added wildcard of chameleons, along with aliens and farmers, you never know what’s going to happen next! Herdvana Herd Members

One of the best features of Herdvana is the “take that” element, where opponents can steal each other’s herds. But fear not, you can protect your herds with the help of a farmer or by achieving the coveted Herdvana. To achieve Herdvana, you’ll need to collect all 8 of the same herd member in one stack, which allows you to lock the stack and keep it safe until the final scoring. Each herd that achieves this difficult task is rewarded an additional 10 bonus points at the end of the game.

The team play option adds an extra layer of excitement and strategy, making it the perfect choice for a fun-filled night in with a large group of friends or family.

How to Play the Herdvana Game

Setup

The first step in setting up Herdvana is to determine the starting player by drawing cards and comparing the highest score.

Herdvana HandOnce the starting player has been determined, the deck is shuffled and each player is dealt 6 cards to start. The remaining cards form the draw pile and the top card is turned over to create the face-up discard pile. With these simple setup steps, you’re ready to dive right into the game and start creating those herds!

How to Play

Players have the choice of one of 7 possible actions:

a) Begin a Herd – Players must have two matching animal cards, which they can stack on top of each other to begin a herd. Chameleons can act as a wildcard and be substituted for one of the cards.

b) Build on a Herd – Players can add to an existing herd by playing one or more matching animal cards.

c) Take the Discard – If the top card of the discard pile is an animal, players can take it and play it on an existing herd or add it to a matching animal card from their hand to create a new herd.

d) Protect a Herd – Players can add a Farmer card to the top of their herd for protection.

e) Steal a Herd – Opponents can try to steal a herd by playing a matching animal or chameleon in front of the stack. If the owner of the herd can play a matching card or chameleon to defend, the herd stays with them. If not, the herd goes to the opponent. This can continue until someone can’t match the card, with the cards piling up on top of the herd until someone wins. Herd Steal

f) Abduct a Farmer – Players can play an Alien card and remove one farmer from the top of a herd. Both the farmer and alien cards are placed in the discard pile. There’s no limit to the number of farmers a stack can have, making it a good strategy for high-value herds. Aliens only remove one farmer at a time, so they will need to keep playing aliens to remove each farmer. Plus, farmers are worth 10 points at the end of the game!

g) Discard – Players can simply discard a card from their hand if they don’t have any other options.

At the end of their turn, players draw back up to 6 cards.

It’s worth noting that after a herd battle, both players involved in the battle are able to draw back up to 6 cards. This helps to keep the game balanced and ensures that both players have a fair chance to continue playing and making their next move.

How do you win the game?

The game of Herdvana comes to an exciting conclusion when the draw pile is depleted and all cards in players’ hands have been played. This can be a tense moment for some players, as valuable herds may be lost at the last minute, adding an extra layer of excitement to the game.

Once all cards have been played, it’s time to score the herds. The value of each card is indicated in the top left corner and the herd members are worth different amounts. Chameleons are worth 5 points, and Farmers are worth 10 points. The player with the highest total score at the end of the game is declared the winner! Chameleon
