My Lil’ Everdell is perfect for introducing younger children to the mechanics of more complex games like Everdell. Trust us, this is the game you wish you had when your kids were younger!

My Lil' Everdell setup

Setup and Gameplay:

The game includes cute crates for holding resources like berries, twigs, and resin, which are placed on designated spaces on the board. The moon token serves as a round tracker, moving across four rounds, while the sun token is given to the first player.

Players choose their favorite creature (butterflies, foxes, lizards, or mice) and place them on the board as workers to perform various actions. Spaces with multiple paw prints have no limit to the number of creatures, while spaces with only one paw print can only have one creature per round.

At the beginning of each round, players roll the dice to determine the resources they can collect. Players can also place their creatures on cards with paw prints in their tableau to perform additional actions.

The game features parade tiles placed in descending order, with the first player to achieve a parade card receiving the highest points. Players can also purchase market cards and plan their actions strategically to maximize their points.

After four rounds, the game ends, and players tally their points from cards and parade cards.

Our Thoughts:

My Lil’ Everdell board game is easy to teach and learn, making it a fantastic choice for families with younger children. The game is a simplified version of Everdell, allowing kids to grasp the core mechanics without being overwhelmed.

The components are of high quality, and the illustrations are charming and delightful. The alternative options for younger kids ensure they have a fair chance at success, preventing any feelings of disadvantage.

The game plays smoothly, and its four-round duration is perfect for maintaining younger children’s attention. The rulebook provides clear, step-by-step instructions, ensuring a seamless gaming experience.

My Lil’ Everdell game is an excellent stepping stone for kids to learn various modern board game mechanics, such as point salad, set collection, and pattern building. It’s a fantastic game for families and ranks among the best children’s games we’ve played.

So, if you’re looking to introduce your kids to the world of board games or searching for a new addition to your family game nights, My Lil’ Everdell is a must-try!
