Check out the Unboxing of the Brian Boru Board Game by Osprey Games. This game is for 3-5 players – ages 14+. Standard game play is approximately 60-90 minutes.
Brian Boru is a hand management, trick taking game where players are trying to gain the most influence and majorities in regions. The winner of the trick gains the town in play and the corresponding action on the card. The remaining players are still able to do the action on their card, however it is the action located on the bottom for less gains. There is also end game scoring for having the majority in a region and the scoring token switches hands throughout the game based on the majority at the time.
The game is played over three rounds in a three player game and each hand consists of 8 cards. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
The components are nice, which include, high quality wood discs, vibrant cards, and helpful easy to read player aids. This is a very strategic game that was very fun to play as a family.
