Hey fellow gamers! Are you ready to embark on an interstellar journey? A brand-new board game, Rocket Fire, is set to launch on Kickstarter on April 18th. Designed by Michael J. Sacco, this game offers an easy-to-learn, engaging, and addictive experience that will have you coming back for more. We had a chance to play the prototype version, and we’re thrilled to share our thoughts with you. Get ready to blast off into a world of strategy, resource management, and cosmic fun!
Overview:
In Rocket Fire, players race to build rocket ships by collecting fuel cells and utilizing power cards. With a blend of strategy and luck, this game is perfect for players aged 10 and up. It boasts impressive components and a smooth game flow, making it perfect for family game nights or casual get-togethers with friends.
Set-Up:
Setting up the game is a breeze. Each player receives a player board, two chips of each color, and three power cards, discarding one of these power cards before the game begins. Players take turns filling their reserve slots with fuel cards or resource cards, which are used to accumulate fuel cells and purchase more powerful cards.
Gameplay:
Rocket Fire features three main actions: taking a power card, reserving fuel cards, or reserving resource cards. Players take turns rolling the dice, adjusting the roll with power cards if desired, and then choosing one of the three actions. The goal is to build six rocket ships, with each rocket requiring seven fuel cells to construct.
Power Cards:
Power cards introduce a strategic element to the game, allowing players to manipulate rolls, trade cards, and more. Examples of power cards include the Booster, Fuel Leak, Force Trade, Freeze, Recall, Chip, Power Shield, and Stolen Power. These cards add depth to the gameplay and provide opportunities for exciting strategic decisions.
Review:
We had an absolute blast playing Rocket Fire! If you enjoy games like Splendor, you’ll feel right at home with the familiar mechanics of collecting chips and purchasing cards. The added elements of dice rolls and power cards elevate the gameplay, creating a unique and engaging experience.
The prototype components are fantastic, featuring stunning illustrations and high-quality materials. The space-themed dice are a delightful touch, and the use of actual NASA photos on the cards adds an extra layer of immersion for space enthusiasts.
Rocket Fire is easy to learn, quick to set up, and provides endless replayability. It’s perfect for families, casual gamers, or anyone looking for a fun, strategic challenge. We found ourselves playing back-to-back games and can’t wait to see what the final Kickstarter version will look like.
Don’t miss out on this cosmic adventure! Mark your calendars for April 18th and be sure to back the Rocket Fire Game on Kickstarter for a gaming experience that’s truly out of this world!
