Cookie Run Kingdom: The Board Game Review

Cookie Run Kingdom: The Board Game

In our opinion, Cookie Run Kingdom: The Board Game is one of the best IP based games out there right now. Cookie Run Kingdom: The Board Game has worker placement, tile placement, territory building, and dice rolling mechanics. All of the player kingdom boards and market is based off of the video game developed by the video game development company Devsisters.

Rules:

The rules are exceptional due to the amount of detail and images in the rulebook. Everything you need to know is in sections and it doesn’t flip the information around like most rulebooks. There’s also a brief appendix at the back of the rulebook on all buildings and landmark tiles for the Cookie Run Kingdom game.

Components:

Cookie Run Kingdom Player BoardsThe Components are some of the best we have seen. The cookie and sugar gnome wooden pieces look extremely nice and make the game feel more thematic. The building, landmark, and forest tiles are really high quality and fit well on each player’s kingdom board; with the landmark tiles having a little shine to them. The boards are nice and everything in the market is based on the video game.

The coins and aurora pillars are also high quality and both serve as the resources in the game, similar to the video game. The cards don’t bend easily, which gives the game more replay value. The round tracker and first player markers are high quality and the standees don’t break the cardboard. Last but not least, the dice each have different sides with different outcomes depending on the type of dice you are rolling.

Experience: Cookie Run Kingdom Components

Our family had a blast playing this game and more plays are sure to come. We really like worker placement and push your luck type games so this was truly fun to play. The theme makes it even more enjoyable, as we are fans of the Cookie Run IP.

Mechanics:

The mechanics were exceptionally good in this game. It has the perfect balance of luck and skill sometimes you need to roll dice or plan out your next 3 turns. A lot of the luck can be reduced by using the  building and landmark abilities and getting more cookies. The market has lots of things to choose from making it fun but can sometimes lead to some analysis paralysis.

Replayablility:

Cookie Run Kingdom marketThis game has so much replayablility with all the building and landmark tiles making it a different game every time. There’s also a luck factor in the dice rolling allowing many different possible outcomes.

Final Thoughts:

All in all our family loved the game and the IP it’s from. There’s so many cool mechanics from lots of games we loved. If you like Cookie Run or board games in general this is a great pick.
